My engine in my se-r is in great shape, no sludge at all, and it is in perfect running condition. It's quite beautiful if you ask me,

I was just wondering that because the sr20 has a rather loud valvetrain this would quiet it up a bit as it was stated in the thread i read this form.

I guess i will not be doing this because my engine will be alive for a lolng long time (hopefully) and i do not want to jeopardize anything else by adding the atf if I do not need it.

Thanks anayways, i thought this was just some mod you could do if u felt like it, no idea that it was meant to save your engine until you can get a new one.

lol

Thanks all

Even though ATF shouldn't be harmful in small amounts, I would just run Mobil 1 synthetic or Royal Purple and call it a day. I couldn't run Synthetic on my old motor because it would just leak out

I think i ahve mobil right now which only has the 500 or less miles I have driven the car for since i have owned it (My car like to F*ck with me so its been off the road for a while)

Vadim, I currently have MOBIL tranny fluid right now I think, is this a good brand or should I try to find some redline? I will be draining it when I do my clutch and changing it and I want to know if i shoudl just get the MOBIL again if I cannot find Redline brand.?

Thank you all for all of the help, hopefully thid thread will serve to better help those with the sme questions I have!

Get redline MT90 form Go fast depot while buying your header wraps. That way shipping should be cheaper.

You will need 4 quarts.

Bottom line - You don't need it.

You need to check mechanical pieces of the valvetrain for issues. Don't try and cover it up with ATF or anything else that will "unstick" it.

Things to look at: Timing chain tensioner, chain guide, HLA's, shims, rocker arms.

Easiest way to check HLA's and rocker arms, is just pull the valve cover and see if you can move the rocker arms easily. Then grab something like a flat tip screwdriver and see if you can push down on the HLA at all. If it compresses, you need to pull it to bleed it, or replace it all together.

What is an HLA?

I was going to get a whole new timing kit but i dont think i need it my chain is in great shape.

How much would a full valve trian replacement cost (besides cams) Springs, valves, retainers, lifters. I don't need anyhting performance but I think I could ifi felt like it. hmmmmm?
