Mixing tranny fluid with engine oil
I remember reading on here that you can mix some tranny fluid with your engine oil upon oil changes to help with the valve train and some of its noises.

I have searched but I cannot find the amount to add and whether it be MTF or ATF gear oil.

Thanks,
-Wes

I've never heard of this, but In my buddy's subaru we mixed up a concoction of syncromesh, lucas stabilizer, redline heavy shockproof, and regular engine oil for his transmission. I don't see why this couldn't be done. I'd be interested to see/hear more.

Yes it's possible.

1 Quart ATF
2.8 Quarts of Regular engine oil.

This ATF has a lot of detergents thus will help clean out the engine if it's dirty. That's what I ran on my sludge monster.

novadose, I got you the first time, I was just saying that if it helps in the trans, it doesn't seem like it would hurt the rest of the motor... it's all just lubrication. I'd be interested in knowing exactly what weight etc. also, I'm a fan of quiet valvetrains, esp with s4 cams.

I have seen this and have done this...

1Qt of cheap ass ATF
2.8Qt of cheap synthetic(or reg oil if you do not run synth)

Drive for 100 to 200mi change oil with more cheap stuff(no ATF) drop oil pan and clean the oil pickup. re install pan.

Drive for 500mi change oil with your favorate oil.

By the way do not beat the crap out of the car for any of the steps, just make sure you heat it up and let is circulate.
