High fuel pressure
Swapped my VE from one car to another.Everything was AOK in the old car before I removed the VE from it.
Everything is running great in the new car,but I have super high fuel pressure according to my VDO inline gauge.
Before the swap it read around 50-60,now it is reading over 90
NO black smoke ,but it does backfire some when you shift if you rev it out.I was attributing this to my exhaust being short and loud.

I did some searching and did not find a whole lot on this.

I did see something about the fuel return line...and it being clogged could cause this to happen.
Now I did have to clean the tank out and whatnot from old gas and crud in it.I wonder if the return line could be clogged,I didnot do anything to try to clean it out.

Ideas anyone?
Can I test the return line out somehow?

The only other thing is that the fuel pump is stock in the new car.
I took the one out of the old car and it doesnt look stock,it looks smaller, pysically.
If it was a walbro255,it seems like my stock FP would have less pressure...not more.
Can someone enlighten me on this?
Thanks

It is the stock FPR that is making it that high. Get a FPR, I had the same issuse as you when I put in a 255 with a stock FPR. My car ran fine for a week but killed some gas.

I've run two walbros on stock FPRs without issue. It may give you a few extra PSI, but 90? I think the line is clogged. Disconnect the return line and see if you can blow through it.

I have a adjustable fpr.I did not change anything during the swap. The engine and trans were just moved to a new car.
Yeah It runs perfect, and I have put about 125 miles on it so far..

Today the Pressure was down to like 80...maybe it is slowly unclogging itself
How would I unclog it if it is? Compressed air?

I also ran a walbro with a stock FPR and it was fine. Yes you do have a clog somehwere in the system. It may very well be your filter. Make sure you didn't crush your fuel rail a little bit, that could cause it as well. If its not in those then clean out your tank and lines please please clean your lines if the gas is old. If all that fails check your FPR

I did clean the tank and feed lines, but how do I clean the return line? compressed air?

Fuel filter is new, fuel rail is not bent,or crushed.

You didn't squash the end of the fuel pressure reg in at all while doing the swap? or maybe a blocked / squashed fuel return line ?

I know sometimes when you get a jdm motor they are usually smushed by picking the motors up by the fuel rail.
This motor was pulled out and installed by me.
I will look again, but I picked the motor up with a cherrypicker,on chains bolted to the head.

I guess I will try to investigate it some more.I have put almost 200 miles on it since the swap. The car is running perfectly.
I have an adjustable FPR on it.
I wonder if I should back it down and se what happens.
Is it possible that the old fuel pump was losing pressure, and maybe the PO cranked up the pressure to compensate?

I would check the line to see if it is clogged, then go from there.

Bumping this ...I am still looking for help on this.
Still havent figured this out yet.
I am running a stock fuel pump with a Nismo AFPR
I tried to lower the fuel pressure, and it will not get any lower than it is....it will go higher, but hell no!
Anybody know how to check the return line?
If I pull the fuel pump ,can I run the car and see anything, like fuel returning?

I am getting like 25 mpg mixed driving, and the car is running great.I have put about 1000 miles on it already.IT doesnt smell rich or smoke.
If there wasnt a fuel pressure guage on the car already,I would have never had a clue that the FP was this high.
The engine was removed as a running unit,so I didnt expect these weird problems.
