Interesting...What do you think about my clutch arm?
Dre's tranny saver (clutch cable bracket) as shown in his picture of a P11/B15 LSD tranny(not sure which version it is)...

My tranny (I never had a chance to take the picture as shown above)...

My question pertains to the clutch arm that you can't hardly see, on mine. If you'll look at the pivot point on the cluth arm as shown in Dre's pic, it's obviously one piece. Mine however, is welded around that pivot point, which is making me wonder if the arm snapped off at one point, and someone just welded it back up rather than replace the arm...

I just bought the tranny saver bracket so that I could rule out the possibility of a bad/stretched bracket, but I'm wondering if maybe I still have hidden issues with the clutch arm, that I couldn't see during cleaning/inspection/lubrication prior to assembly...

Thoughts? Should I just drop the trans and replace the clutch arm?

that's the second version.

yours could have snapped before and then welded. or someone was just making it alittle but stronger because it happened before. I'd convert to Hydrolic.

I've given a hydraulic transmission some serious thought, but I don't know that I'd want to have to worry about something else ever breaking on me. That's why I'm going to drop the power steering pump when I have a chance to do it. Alternator will be taking it's place on the back of the motor.

EDIT: What are you referring to, with regard to your comment "second version"?

the tranny bracket is the second version.

I'm saying reliability wise, they're about the same but the hydro clutch can handle a stronger pressue plate over the cable.

people complain about how hydrolic can leak and the cylinder goes bad here and there, yet they forget that cables snaps and the clutch fork crack with a strong PP.

I can't see the pivot point on your arm to tell.

Note the black around the arm. That's where it's welded at, on mine. I also don't recall the arm being angled forward as shown. IIRC, it's a little more close to the same angle as the case (where the top mount would be)

I would say hydro is less problematic then cable. You can probably count on one hand all the people who had a problem with the hydro setup. But every other day there is a thread popping up about tightening or loosening a cable, or a broken cable, or broken arms.

Hydro problems are simple to diagnose. Where it's wet that's your problem. Also in a hydro system if something breaks your not pulling your tranny off.

I say go hydro!

I think all B13 arms have weld on them. I am not sure. Can you take a pic of it?

I can take a pic of it, but it'll have to be next week when I'm at home.

I guess I could look into converting it, but I've never owned one that was hydro so I wouldn't know where to begin

All b13/b14 cars had the welded clutch arm actuator!!

Even our N13(87-90) models had welded arms!
