yep sounds like the cable to me, your lever will have some play which you mentioned you did up until the tob hits the pressure plate. so your lever is not broken, i know this for a fact cuz i broke the tob fork prongs one time and i could move the lever alot all the way back and all the way pulled foward, it would occasionally hit the tob but yeah i pulled the tranny off and sure enough both prongs were broken.

replaced it and went on my way, i though it was my cable at first as well. Your lever should feel nice and smooth foward and back and you should really be able to lift up on it at all if the tob is still attached, if you pull up on it slightly and it starts to come up a ways then its probably the fork.

Again double check your cable, give it a nice tug, it might have snapped a couple threads and streched to the point where you lost complete use of it. Ive seen that happen as well. To where its not totally snapped yet but it will if it had any more tension on it.

My tranny just pooped on my today. Must be the taboo in this thread. My Cable is fine. I can move the lever up and down and waaay back to the radiator and touch the fingers of the PP. I had to jam it into 1st w/o the pedal just to get it to move. Any ideas?

yeah broken fork more than likely, talk to greg, im sure he can get one for you. Sucks to have to take the tranny down for such a stupid thing. Your throw out bearing probably bound up like mine did and probably assisted in it breaking the fork. So your probably gonna need a new tob and fork. My tob was cracked where it goes onto the sleeve, But i know exactly why, cuz when i put the tranny back up with the new tob it didnt have very much grease. So yeah before i put this one back up i made sure to have plenty of grease on there. So far i havent had any other problems.

How much are those? My cable been grinding when pushing it into gear and I kept losing adjustment so I do think it is the fork.

How hard is it to replace the goldish lever on the clutch release arm. mine is torn like in the picture on the first page but not nearly as bad. i feel like i should just go ahead and replace it since i'm doin the cable.

not hard but the tranny does need to come off to replace the arm.

Just got the call from the shop. I am not working on it. The fork is broken for sure.
I am putting a factory clutch disc and pressure plate back in the car and calling it a day until I finish the bodywork and such. I am not racing at this point so it is moot. I can't take that clutch adjustemnt thing. Until I pull the motor and do a VE (at that point I would just swap clutches anyway) I am going back factory. F that! I am looking for reliability for the remaining of the year.

Here was my problem:

I have a el-cheepo clutch combo in there and you gotta see the amount of threads that are on the cable now. No need for the spacer. I can sacrifice burnouts for driveability for a while.
