Clutch pedal on the floor, No Resistance. HELP!
The other day i went to put my 1998 Sentra SE 5spd in gear and the pedal just fell to the floor. i can pull it off the floor with my hands but there is no resistance what so ever. it just goes up and down freely. i cant get it into gear at all. its stuck in neutral. I had the clutch replaced about a year and a half ago. the cable is intact. what ever the problem may be it is definitely in the transmission. does any one have any idea what it could be?

check the clutch arm lever by hand. if you can move it you have a broken clutch lever . Just because the cable is in one piece does not mean it did not break in the middle. Sounds like a clutch cable to me. remove the clutch cable from the arm and pull on it to see if the steel wire moves.

thats what i figured it was but the lever that goes into the transmission moves when the cable moves at the pedal. Is it the lever at the transmission then? or could it be worse?

my bet is on the cable it self. you can check that by checking the lever on the tranny. Also you should be able to shift into all gears with the car off. if you can do that then you have a clutch lever(tranny) or clutch cable issue. Even if the t/b came loose you would still have pedal pressure. So unless the tabs that hold the t/b in place broke, it sounds like a clutch cable to me. especially the part about the pedal on the floor.

maybe your clutch broke, and one of the springs is jamming the PP

mmmm if the clutch arm is still moving you may have broken the clutch arm.
