advice on checking out a car that doesnt "run"
ok, yeah, i know. weird question. but ive been offered a trade for my nx. which is a reliable, stock avenir swapped car, with the exception of a blow off valve and front mount. now, im not new to the whole modded car thing, so if this sounds like a dumb question, its just becasue my communication skills are lacking, not my mechanical. but anyway, trade is a us 240 converted to a sil80! blacktop swap, silvia front end, LOOKS to have suspension, and some nice mesh wheels. anyway, it isnt getting fuel. NOT WORRIED about that. what i AM worried about, is if i cant here it run, how can i know for sure the motor doesnet have a thrown rod/spun bearing/ect. it DOES crank, so i can do a cold compression test. and yeah, i know to check the oil for coolant. any other suggestions, so i can make sure ive covered all my bases? i figured if it had a thrown rod, it would show up on compression test. never actually delt with that before. anyways, thought/opinions? cars pretty clean, figured i could get it runnning and trade for a tt300zx(yeah, its a stretch i know)

dont think a thrown rod bearing would show up on a compression test, however if it is a true sr20det, it most likely doesnt have many miles on it.. so even if it is a spun bearing as long as theres to crank damage it should be easy to replace..
