Exactly. To each his own.

I prefer electrical gauges, due to the ease of installation, and I'm only running a signal wire from the sender to the gauge. What's so hard about that? IMO, they're just as accurate as mechanical gauges. Different strokes for different folks.

I have had some high end Omori and Defi gauges and they all came electrical. High end gauges use more efficient sensors and you will have no issues going electrical, and it is cleaner/easier to hook up.

Mechanical can gum up and clog up and not function properly, showing higher pressures or lower pressures than actual. Same for temp if clogged they don't show proper temp.

Unless you have a dedicated race car most people don't need gauges to tell them precise values, you just need to know if **** is ****ed up or not.

You either have pressure or you don't, if you don't stop the car.
it doesn't matter if you have 45psi or 49psi

Same with temp, if you go outside of a normal range, bad if you are hitting 200F or 205F it doesn't make much difference

Get the gauges you like from a respectable company

I agree with you on some aspects. However, I do care if one day my car is pumping 100 psi of oil pressure at warm up and the next day it is only pumping 50 psi at warm-up.

I don't think it is about the accuracy of the gauge at the moment but the accuracy of the gauges over a given time will let you know how the internals of the motor is working.

Sounds like some folks don't understand fundamentals of electricity. BAD GROUND??? Simply incompetent installation. Failed or inaccurate sensors? El cheapo gauges. Do good ones fail sometimes? Probably. So do engines. If you really can't afford the few extra bux for electrics, just do your install properly. Or save your money a bit longer and get good electrics with the sensor at the source. Don't know how to run a ground? Ask somebody.

and the accuracy of my greddy gauges will come as close as I need to any mechanical gauge out there.

also I have yet to come across a situation you describe with an oil press gauge, either I have pressure or i don't.

Just because it hasn't happened to you, doesn't mean it hasn't for others.

exactly.

i think that there are features on both electric and mechanical that are good, i just prefer mechanical over electric.

Sorry, I prefer a QUALITY electric gauge over any comparable mechanical.

You keep any potential mess out of the cabin, and with any company that knows what they're doing, you're going to have a quality component that won't fail you.

Wow, did I say anything like that? I am entitled to my opinion and to express the experience that I am basing this opinion on, dont mock me and quit acting like a DICK.
