I don't know how many factory flywheels you've seen, but it can't be that many. The moment i saw a picture of the flywheel that Autech posted (which i have inspected that flywheel in person weeks before this thread was even posted), i immediately could see it wasn't factory, and the same goes for the OP's flywheel. Its am amazing co-incidence that 2 flywheels, looking so similar, in 2 very far parts of the world, once sourced from a car exported from Japan, as great as america is, why would a Jap buy an American part when they have such a huge parts base on their doorstep. Just doesn't seem logical.
I know you thought you were right at the time, we all make mistakes, don't get defensive about it and learn from the experience on how it is different to a stock flywheel so you can identify one in the future, maybe at a wrecker and bag yourself a bargain. Features such as its smooth texture on the back, the lack of balance holes on the back, the integrated ring gear, all are very important points that make it stand out immediately as an aftermarket component when compared with a factory flywheel.
