Driving Impressions also a question
Let me first say that the greatest mod to date that I've done to my car is a 5 speed swap! I got to drive my car for about 20 miles last night to the shop that will fix bugs and tune the car and it is insane. This was ~9pm last night and I still have a smile on my face.

Here's my car:
2001 Nissan Sentra SE
SR20VE swap
B15 5spd w/LSD swap
GT28RS turbo
555cc injectors
10psi on low boost
Built block with Calico bearings, GTiR pistons n rods, 8cw crank
cams not yet activated
Greddy e-manage blue

Anyways, my question. I have a 5spd out of a 01 SE, the LSD tranny. When in 1st gear, the car bucks. I thought it was cause I was moving too slow, but then drove with a buddy in his NX and his does the same thing in first at low speeds (his experience >20 years, mine...hahaha).

Is that common for Nissan transmissions? I thought it was a dead-spot in the tuning, but maybe not?

It could be your tuning.
Did you know how to drive a manual before? It might be how you drive it.

Sounds like your driving. The lower gears i.e. one is the most violent with throttle control if your not smooth.

Not really, but I have driven a camry and never had a problem with going through first gear.

So this isnt common on nissan transmissions?

Its common if you have a really really responsive throttle. I occasionally did it in my turbo car but my ve was worse at doing it. That motor with the 8 lbs flywheel, Greg v pulleys, act clutch, open ssac header. perfectly tuned tps and perfectly tuned timing and fuel map, now that motor was responsive, im sure most of you saw the vid i posted of it. haha. That thing moved as far as response goes. Instant. So yeah first gear sometimes was a little jump especially if i would just start to go and hit good size bumps in the road that would bounce my foot into the throttle, It got pretty jerky at times. haha, my buddy can account for that. But again my car was super light as well.

Ha a camry is much smoother then our cars. I drive a brand new RX8 last weekend (weak imo), but I loved the gear box and shifting. It was smooth even if you didn't shift right.

So it's probably the HD clutches that are super gripy that make it worse on our cars.

Ashtons got it. First gear in our cars is really short. From my understanding its even shorter with the B15's. Couple that with a lighter flywheel or any other mods that give better throttle response and you get that jerk sometimes. Just like Ashton said. Mine was worse with the 8lb flywheel. It got a lil better with solid prothanes. My turbo car now has a 10.5 lbs flywheel and I dont really notice the problem.

I also have Prothanes all around and a solid Front Dogbone. So most of the jerking got knocked out.

rx8 gear box is sooooo smooth. you gotta love it

its the car itself. gear too small + turbo = small bump and you get jerking. its either ride the clutch or turbo. pick one to eliminate it.
