Leaking brake line (NO brakes)
I was changing my high pressure p/s hose today when I got done, everything was fine until I realized that I had no brakes

Now I got my wife to press the brake pedal up and down and found that there was a nick taken out of the brake line leading to my passenger side wheel and leaking everytime it was pressed.

My main question is what do i do to fix this? Can i just cut the bad piece out and just put in a small piece of fuel line and clamp each end or do I have to replace the whole thing? and if so how the hell would i go about doing that??

PLease help me!

dont half ass your brakes. im sorry but that is the stupidest thing ive heard in awhile. brake lines are designed for the high pressure induced during braking, fuel line is made for fuel. You mentioned your wife...do you want her to be a widow? Just do it right and buy a new line.

Most muffler shops have brake hard lines they can bend for you if you can't find anything in stock at a stealership / autoparts store.

The other expensive alternative is to run a custom stainless line right to the caliper.

Its always cheaper to just go get some brake line from a junkyard or auto parts store and have a new line made. Its pretty simple despite sounding like a difficult task. A double flaringtool can be had fairly cheap, and the line can be bought by the foot from most autoparts stores with the proper fittings you'd need.

I am gonna give greg a call and see if he can get me one.

Most stock brake lines are rubber btw......You know the ones that run to your cailper.

they are rubber on the outside. cut one open and it is full of metal strands so that it doesnt burst. You put a couple thousand psi pressure when you use your brakes.

Thanks guys for the concern guys. I have found some ways to reconnect hard brake lines the correct way.

oh ok I think we all thought you ment the hard line running to the rubber line. Either way get a OEM or Stainless steel replacement. No sense in taking that chance.
