sort of ;loud knocking/ticking noise after cam install
so i have this noise after ive installd them its not rally loud like the motor is gonna blow but its from the head. i know it has to be....

are bc stage 2s just loud???

what could cause this odd noise? any ways to pinpoint wer the sound is coming from?

Could be your timing chain tensioner. Mine was quite and after installed the S4's it started to create a bit more noise. If you haven't removed the timing chain guide sometimes they produce a light "knocking" noise after a while.

X2 sounds like yours needs to be upgraded to the 99-2002 one

i did take out the tensioner to do the inststall. what a pain in the ass that was....that lil fujcing lock pin is so bogus...

the noise has to be frome the timing chain...thats almost where i can pinpoint it to or somwere next to it.... it cant be rod knock could it? how would that be possible?

but i think i should get the new tensioer as well....anyone know the new style part number by any chance?

but i am sort of missing that low end power already....just need to hurry up and get them all broken in so i can REALLY see how they work

If you go to Nissan, you will only get the new updated tensioner. Old part #s supercede to new ones.

Also try and describe more of what the sound is like. I havent personally heard a bad tensioner, but I was told its more like someone shaking nuts and bolts up in a can. The lifter was just a constant tick tick tick noise that increases with RPM.

it is a constant ticking almost a knocking noise that incresas with rpm....its coming from the pulley timint chain side of the motor.....it always made the noise even befor ei put the cams in but not as loud......

Could be the hydraulic lifters. Did you bother to check them while you had the cams out? If there is air in the HLA, the rocker will not lay solid between the cam and shims, and it will buck on the HLA. Bad juju, as it could potentially lead to a broken rocker, or shims falling off.
