Thread: 3" exhaust question

It scrapes on EVERYTHING and my car is at stock height (part of the reason I haven't lowered it yet).

The resonator hits the walls of the passage way on every turn. It's heavy and weighs down the exhaust plenty.

The only thing is it sounds really good.

For your consideration, and btw, if you do decide to disagree, that's fine, but back it up so he's not left scraping for an answer. I dont' mind being disagreed with but it's not kind to disagree and leave it at that:

Sorry I haven't had a chance to read the links you provided canx2k, but I'm confident I know what they say. The links I've provided should, in part, address the myths no doubt present in your links.
Also, I know the top one talks about VE engines and the bottom is a BMW thread, but the same applies to the DE engine.
Put a 3" exhaust on a 600cc 4 cylinder motorcycle engine and you'll make more power everywhere in the rev range. Put on a 4" exhaust and you'll make even more. It's that simple.

good enough man, to each his own, I appreciate the update. For the record I wasn't upset, It's just tough to take someone disagreeing with you unless they say something to help why. I'm not a chick, so being insulted is tougher than that

btw I absolutly love my 2.5" setup right now, with all the dd na bolt ons -- The sound isn't overpowering, and it's well suited to my needs. That being said, I've never tried a 3", but find it tough to see how that's better when I've got a 2.5" ssac dp with my s3's than what I already have. I'm sure blairellis, you will find what suits you. Good luck!

Nah, a 3 inch catback for an n/a motor is a BAD idea. Stay with 2.25 or max 2.5 if many power mods. One loses a lot of torque with too much diameter.

for the record, they don't have anything to say on the 3" matter; they do, however mention the decent support for the 2.5" na motor. That being said, I linked all these mostly not to support my claim, but moreso to help the decision making, so I'm happy to see that there's both information available to educate the decision process
