lifter tick - 1 quart of transmission oil instead of 5W-30??

a mechanic I know told me to substitute one quart of oil with transmission fluid on my next oil change to fix lifter ticking...

insane or real??

Now if the lifter is completly bad then it might not work but 1 quart Automatic tranny fluid does wonders in a motor.

well I just changed the oil two nights ago.. so I have a 3,000 miles to go before I can do it again...
