LOL how big is your tailpiece? Maybe bolt in one of those adjustable tip ends that sell with the Jap Style rear muflers - just to pass the test. Then unbolt it afterwards...

In my search online, the flowmaster is listed as either a 2.0 or 2.25 size. I have the same size exhaust as yours and I'm trying to quiet it down (instead of my magnaflow muffer) and a baffled flowmaster might be what I need. Is your 60 series a 2.5, and if so, where did you get it?

Here is the muffler that I currently have. I have the 2.5" JGY exhaust on my car but the 2.25" flowmaster was the same exact size as the JGY 2.5" piping.....go figure.

I have a couple of tricks up my sleeve that I am going to try first. Right now I currently do not have a tailpipe on the car.....just the flowmaster at the end of the line. I think I am going to try to rig up a temporary 1" diameter tailpipe and see how that goes. I also called a local muffler shop and they said that they would help my out. Basically what I hope to do is find a stock muffler from another vehicle that will fit under my car with a 2.5ish" inlet and mount it up.

Yeah it reduces the noise and you are right it does causes a droning noise at certain speeds on the NA car.

As an update I finally passed. I rigged up a 1" tailpipe to the back of the magnaflow. I got about 4" sticking into the flowmaster and about 4" sticking out of it. It made a world of a difference, the car sounds pretty much stock. I think many of our exhausts are so loud is becasue we really don't have any room for a tailpipe if we mount the muffler in its stock location. As an excersise I might try to run a 90 degree bend out the back of the flowmaster then run a tailpipe under the car parallel to the rear bumper and dump the tail pipe under the driver's side rear, opposite the stock location. A good 4 foot of 2.5" tailpipe should quiet down the exhaust significantly over no tailpipe at all.
