I just got into an accident...

I really hope that my baby is not going to be totalled. The front end is all messed up. I submarined into the back on a Mercury Mariner SUV and my front end is pretty tore up. The engine is fine.

I have a small leak of anti-freeze which I am trying to find out if it is from hoses and lines bending or something actually broken. I was only travelling around 25 MPH.

I never been in an accident before and I hope I never get into another one again. I learned more about driving the hard way. I know I have not been very active on these forums because I have had no money for my car but I still love her more than anything and she is hurting right now.

If you want to see what she looked like in better days, check out my sig.

And hope with me that she does not get totalled. I really do not want any other car unless it would be a B13 SE-R but last time I checked, they stopped making them

Sorry about the accident, that really sucks. Glad you are OK and don't give up hope on the car just yet, there are quite a few people who have had rather not nice touches to their car and they brought them back. Keep us posted and post up some pics when you get a chance. Good luck.

I would never give up on the car. As long as I am on this Earth and I have fuel to put inside the engine, I will drive this car until I die.

^^^

I used to say that when I had my B13, and then I had to let her go. I miss having an SE-R. Having one is in my plans as soon as I'm done from my deployment. Anyone want to sell me one?

Insurance wanted to total it. I do not want to let go of this car. I love it too much.

I have a few options.

1. Drop the claim and fix it myself

2. Let insurance total it, they change the title to salvage, then I have to BUY BACK the car from insurance and then fix it and re-title it to be on the road again.

OR

3. I already found another 200SX SE-R, same year, and even the same miles for sale in my area, I could buy that car, take parts off of it to fix my car or swap everything over to the new car and then part-out and sell what I do not need on my car.

If you guys were in my position and really loved the car and did not want to let it go, What would you do? Please give me some advice gentlemen.

If you like the car that much, you should definetely hold on to it. There are several forum members who have gotten into accidents much worse (not taking anything from the magnitude of your accident), but in terms of damage they were able to completely refurbish their cars. I was faced with a similar decision when I got into my accident a couple of months ago, but the damage to my car was much more extensive. I loved that car and sometimes would rather drive it over the car I have now. But its all good.

Either that or take the insurance money and buy another SE-R or SR20-powered and promise to make it better than the last. I'd really hate to see another SR20 go to the junkyard and get picked apart.

First off how much is the buy back?

Depending on what the buy back price is I'd buy option 3 and the buy back then salvage as much as possible. Looks like rest of car is in good shape so you should make out ok.

Option #3 all the way, Salvage is a pain to deal with if you ever have to resell.

If the car gets totaled you can sometimes remove some parts that make the car run, so you can sell those parts too hehe.
