Thread: Cosworth multi-layer steel head gasket

Are they reusable? I put it on, started it up and ran the engine for about 15 miles, then realized I had to remove the head again. Do I need to order a new one? I know you have to for the stock head gaskets for sure...

Same question about the ARP head studs as well.

As long as there is no damage to the coating on the gasket you should be fine to reuse it. This was told to me by another reliable source as well. So go for it. And same with the studs.

I know several people who have reused cometic gaskets with copper spray on them and 35psi+ of boost with zero issue.

Having said that, I think it will hold up, but I wouldn't do it on some gaskets...

The arp studs are never torqued past their elastic stage, so you can reuse them over and over again.
