Thread: Need Help on Shortshifter install

I got a pacesetter ss to install.It is just the shifter itself with the pivot ball on it.
I got the stock shifter assembly out of the car.Unlike a B&M,,that comes with a new billet aluminum base,you have to take apart the oem base to reuse it and the nylon bushings with the pacesetter shifter.
The base has bushings that act as a socket for the ball on the shifter to sit in.
I cant figure out how to pop it apart
Anybody know what I am talking about,or have any suggestions.

I would help you but I cant remember lol. Its been a while. But make sure that you adjust the ball all the way up or you will regret it and have to adjust it up even more. When you first shift it youll think something is broke because itll be in gear but its so short of a throw that it wont feel like it until you get used to it...

eggman i have a used stock pivot with cut stock shifter you can have??? the shifter and pivot ball just pop in and out on mine...try somthin out on it if you want to experiment.....15 shipped

the pivot should be good(its 17 years old)

I do have the ball adjusted all the way up.I was gonna try that first.I figure I will make it longer if it is too short at that point.Thanks




Thanks for the offer I may take you up on it.I have like 3 stock shifters here,so it dont make much sense to get another at this point.I have been searching( here and there) and nobody seems to have the same issue.

It pisses me off,there isnt much I cant figure out on these cars.I have even had a stock one apart to try to move the ball down,but I had to force out the ball socket and it was a real PITA.

if it's not to late, I will be attempting to change my shifter with the pivot ball very soon with the ebay special as a previous owner sawed off the thread on the current one. hoping my new nismo ball shifter will fit! (10/12mm bolt pattern)
