Thats a normal sound for the B&M. Im sure theres a fix for it though. I remember reading about it somewhere. Nothings wrong with the shifter though. B&M's just makes noises.

I have it too but it comes from my shift knob. Is that what you are talking about?

I've got a B&M shifter.

I've had a B&M in my Classic for the passed 2.5 years. It just rattles. You can throw on a heavy as all hell shift knob (like a AMS Hammer) and the rattle will go away, but it's just what they do. I heard Pacesetter ones don't rattle but that is 'cause they have a nylon ball, not a metal one like the B&M.

buddy of mine had a shifter that rattled. not sure if it was a b&m or a nismo. but he finally took it apart and there was a spring or a bolt that had come loose. it has been a couple years since this happened. fixed that and it didn't rattle anymore. good thing too because 1 1/2 hr car pool to work it would drive you nuts.

Mine rattles too.
But it only seems to do it when I'm in 5th gear and went I let off the throttle.

I guess mine's the exception to the rule? I don't have any rattles coming from the B&M at all. The only rattles I get are from the exhaust rubbing against the undercarriage

This has always been the theory. I think if you grease the B&M pivot ball you may reduce or prevent the rattle entirely for a while.

the grease WILL help, but you gotta take it all apart.
I have read ,over the years ,that the rattle is common on a B&M.
Definately the metal pivot ball is the culprit of the rattle.
