high port \ low port ???
got quick question...
can a low port block (outta of a b15 2.0 version) work with a high port head from a 91 b13 se r ???/
^ basically, can this be a basic head swap, with everything matching up ^

yes. the only difference is in the head itself. as long as you use all the b13 head stuff (including the intake manifold), it can be done.

lol i'm doing the exact opposite right now in putting a highport non RR sr20de into a b15

just make sure you swap over all the parts to the b13 sensors and stuff.

also, the ps pump is different, so you'd have to use b13 ps pump, the water lines are different, as is the coolant temperature switch/thermister switch. So again, just unbolt the b15 one, bolt in the b13, and you're on your way.

oh and the b13 oil filter bracket, ac compressor bracket and I believe the motor mount brackets are different as well. No big deal, all bolt ons, the block itself is good to go.

And since you are swapping the ps pump out, could you hook me up with a part? I'll trade you it for all the knowledge you can grab from me since I'm doing this swap right now

BTW, make SURE you measure with a digital caliper the head bolt lenghts, buy a head gasket, and make sure the bolts are within spec (6.288" i believe is spec, but check the fsm to make sure. length is measured from bottom of bolt to bottom of head)
Head bolts are 11mm Allen key (get a socket with a longass head)

Welcome to the forum, and make sure you turn your PM box on if you have any other questions you can pm me and i'll help you out.

The real question is why would you want to use a crappier bottom end?

I understand a highport or low port block on a roller rocker head, but wise versa is kinda pointless haha.

I almost did the same thing, and guys said what you are, but hey, if he has a line on a cheap block and doesn't care so much about counterweight cranks and issues therein and just wants a reliable cheap fix, then all the power to him

Very true to that, but when your going to spend so much time and effort on the internals it just seems like its a good idea to get it right the first time haha .

I guess, but if he, like me, has no money and has a motor lying around, then time is free and engines are money

i guess price to hp ratio it'd be better to swap a det or ve from greg v than swap the head

It really depends on what your HP goals are, if you want to make an all motor monster then get ready to shell out a good bit of $$.

If its going to be just a daily with nothing special then doing what you want to do would work just fine.

If you want a lot of power for the least amount of money DET is your way to go. Here is the motor that I got.
