Regarding the p/s delete... A problem has shown itself
I'm not sure if anybody has had this problem, so I'll ask:

After doing the p/s delete, has anybody had a problem with the belt turning itself inside out on the pullies?

I've been running this configuration for a couple of years and recently had to change the belt. I have the stock pullies. I'm running the 250k3. I never had a problem with the set up until I changed the belt a few days ago. Today, after class, I went to get some grub and noticed a puff of smoke come from under my hood. I pulled into a parking lot to check it out and, sure enough, the belt had turned inside out on the pullies. I hastily drove back home only to have the belt come completely apart en-route to my house.

Now, I drove with the old belt chirping and squeeling for an extended amount of time due to a multitude of reasons. It smoothed out some of the pulley surface. Could this have been the reason that caused the belt to do this? I'm confused as to why it did this. I have a spare water pump pulley that I'm going to put on to hopefully remedy this.

Does anybody have any ideas why this happened?

Any help or input is greatly appreciated.

TIA,

Lance

are you saying that the ribbed part of the belt was now on the outside and the belt had managed to do that by itself ?

that's what i'm sayin, dog! lol

but, yeah. the ribbed side was showing on the outside. the flat smooth back of the belt was on the pulley ribs... and it managed it all on its own...

Just needed to scratch it's back, after the belt is satisfied it'll usually turn right back over.

Seriously though, that's pretty wild.

I thought that maybe the belt could have been off one rib from wp pulley to crank pulley, but i didn't get to check it. I peaked into the engine bay and looked at the belt and noticed that it was showing ribs. That's bad both in the car world and when you're looking for a girl. showing ribs is never any good...

I got the new belt on, and haven't had any problems with it. yet... but we'll have to wait and see.

i put it on the right way, though I did not check the crank pulley to make sure that the belt was lined up on the same ribs on both pulleys. lol. that is a possible cause, and i'll admit, is likely what happened. though i can not say for sure...

that's what happens when you hurry to get your car fixed and forget to double check things before you wrap it up... :o lol

Ok... The damn thing did it again. It flipped the belt inside out on the pullies again. The belt was lined up perfectly on the pullies, yet it still managed to flip itself... I have no idea what's causing this. Does anybody know?
