^Do you know of anybody that has ordered the KOYO style RAD? I wonder if it is a 1.6/2.0 style.

I just spoke to my rad guy and he said they have even discontinued the 2L rads with the larger hose fittings.

They have basically decided to make the rad with the GA16 hose size and if you need it for a 2L they have the rubber ring to go around it.

Some body up top has no idea what they are doing and dont realize this causes the cars to run hot because there is not enough water flow.

^This is what I was thinking, and this is the problem I didn't want to have. A lot of people do this and don't have problems, but I just want a direct fit.

^You were right. After I double checked and pointed him to this thread I assume he saw that it was universal. He was nice about refunding my money though.

P.S. Still looking Engine bay as antifreeze all over it. Plus it was been 28 days since that company from the first link got the return from the wrong core RAD they sent me. I'm still waiting on my $179.95+$10

I bought a 2 row with a 1-1/4" thick core from forum member nutty se-r
off the old forum. He doesn't post that much, but he did has two good buyer/seller feedback threads. These are the pics he sent me. I will update this thread for everybody when the RAD gets here.

I think you did not quite get what I was saying.

The rad in the picture is a universal rad but this is the universal one to get.

If you use it on a SR20DE you have to cut off the smaller neck to fit the SR20DE.

Again the one in this picture is the universal radiator you want to get for your 2L.

If you can get your hands on it call me and I will tell you what to do.

that is the same radiator i that i have, at least it looks the same. except for the neck the neck on my radiator has a corner on it and makes it really hard to fill up. the one that i got was from Napa and it was made by Modine. i had to look in the book they had there, i did it one day when i was bored at work. i will try and look up the part number and post it for all you folks. i agree with andreas and the whole having to trim the inlet and outlet to the bigger size. there is even still a bead after you trim them.

Here's some pictures I took of my Koyo and the stock SE-R radiator during the swap.

The Koyo is about 4X as thick as the stock SE-R radiator. It also holds an appreciable amount of extra coolant too.

What if you ship the wrong part to me?
If there are any discrepancies about an order, a Radiator Express representative will contact you prior to shipping an order. If per chance you do receive the wrong part. Radiator Express will have a replacement shipped immediately and pay all shipping charges on the returned product.

^Hopefully they will honor this

^They shipped me the wrong part. I ship it back and they recieve it on November 28,2008. After me fighting to stay on top of the status with weeks of not hearing anything, they didn't give me my FULL refund I paid $179.95 for the RAD + $10 to ship it back. They only gave me a refund of $169.95 WTF?

This is their reply after having the wrong part listed on their site.

you paid 179.95 for the radiator. Credit was 169.95
we we're able to get restocking waives as you didn't like the thickness, but they would not refund shipping. This is straight from the manufacturer - so I am bound to their guidelines. I am sorry for this inconvenience to both our parties

Email I sent them as a reply.
FRONT THEIR SITE: What if you ship the wrong part to me?

^So this is not honored that comes directly from your site? Wow

FROM THEIR SITE: RETURNING A PART:

All new items may be returned within 5 days of receipt for refund. All new returns are subject to a 20% restocking fee based on the cost of order. Freight charges are non-refundable and return freight is at the expense of the purchaser. Items claimed for return after 5 days but within 30 days of receipt are valid for exchange only and subject to a 10% restocking fee based on the cost of item. No items over 30 days of receipt are valid for return, unless exchanged through our defective exchange policy.

^This part of the website seems to contradict the above statement of the returning policy. Although, I was sent the wrong part not by my mistake, I don't see how I would fall under these terms.

MY THOUGHTS:

Plus I get ripped for the extra $10 after you all have the wrong thickenss of the item listed on the site? This should have been an easy internet fix to send me the funds back in the total amount that I paid. I don't know why the rules have changed on me. I am a very fair guy and respected in the sr20community. They will definitely be reading a thread about this. I am not happy how this has ended. I fill ripped off and the length of time I had to wait without any accurate ETA was poor.

^^^ man this stinks.I ahve been following this thread, and it is making me want to get my NX rad fixed that has a broken drain plug bung.
I am having the same runaround on the carbon bezel I ordered that was wrong.
It was a different seller,an way less money, but the same BS.

I will also be posting my experience up whenever it gets resolved.

Looks like you got a rad that will work on the way finally, though.

^You want believe this, but I'm currently running a 1.6L RAD from my auto parts car right now. I just sleeved the 2.0L hose over the 1.6L hoses. I had to ditch my NX RAD because it was leaking like a bad period. It's only temporary until I find a 2 ROW NX RAD. The one in the pics from post # 82 I canceled the order on, in which I shouldn't have . I could have received it and sawed off the part on the inlet and outlet where it tapers down into the 1.6L diameter to put the inlet and outlet back at the 2.0L diameter. That's what I should have done. I wasn't sure about that neck at the top either. O well, after I thought about all of this, I sent him another PM. I can reorder it again anytime and make the modifications.

To be honest its TOTALLY unnecessary, but its your money and not mine. Why wouldn't you go look for a nice used nx rad and buy that instead of spending all that money. I got my 1" nx rad for 20bucks!( I know i said that before, but it is such a good deal I think I will post it again)

The moral......WHY???? YOU DONOT need a upgraded radiator unless your road racing, otherwise its just for show and a waste of money! IMHO
