It might also be interesting to count the fins on some of these radiators. The Nismo (gtir) radiator, for example, is the exact same dimensions as the NX radiator, but it has 24 fins per inch vs 18 on the NX.

^Guys I updated the first post about the compaines I attempt to get a NX style RAD from. They receieved the return from the wrong RAD they sent me on 11/28/08 and I still haven't gotten my money back yet. They said they are working on the paper work. How long does it take is my question?

I purchased a all-aluminum rad from rockauto.com. It came and was 7/8" thick, all aluminum, but had the 1 1/16 inlet and outlet from the 1.6 liter. I took the rad hose from the 1.6 and slid it on, then cut it flush with the inlet and outlet. The stock rad hose slides over the 1.6 hose and I clamped it on. Zero issues with overheating or otherwise. The fin density on this one is way way better than the stock 5/8" core. I may upgrade in the future if I have any issues cooling, but I don't right now.

I figured the 1.6L inlet sizes, though smaller than the 2.0, are not much of a restriction considering the thermostat opens to the size of a quarter anyway. I havn't had any issues with this radiator since I installed it.

But Robchaos rad is very very tempting.

Ok, guys here is the deal. The stock se-r radiator is 5/8ths thick, the stock nx rad is 15/16ths(1"), and the gtir is also 15/16ths(1"), but the fin count is different and set-up for high speed while the nx is set-up more for stop and go.

This has been talked about many times and there has been guys who have had 3 nx's and all measured 15/16ths(1"), which is the true nx rad size.

Listen if you just want a upgraded rad over the stock 5/8ths se-r then just get a nx it will be more then enough.

I am running a gtir with a gt28r @ 18-20psi and I am having no problems at all. I'll be upgrading to a holset hx35 in feburary and still am going to us the same rad. Koyo's are overrated IMO. I don't think there needed unless your road racing or something where your not going below 6k.

because ive been considering just getting one FOR a gtir to use on my nx, are the dimensions and mounting points the same? just wondered. guess it doesnt matter that much, brackets are easy to fab. how about a bluebird radiator? that would be setup more for stop and go maybe?

Don't know anything about the bluebird, but if you live in the US then keep the nx rad. Why waste money on the same radI mean if you want to spend money then go buy a 2" rad.
