I'll end up getting a KOYO probably.

I guess maybe it's bling to some people, but since you don't even see it (and I could care less) I never thought of it that way. Unless you're talking something else new, someone has probably reman'd the core of any used radiator, or it's still used and I have no idea if the coolant was changed regularly, zero reason to have any confidence it's going to not leak or break at the worst time, as things usually do.

I just don't see why people get so judgmental about how much someone else spends on something like a radiator or any other functional item for their car. Besides capacity, I have to admire the workmanship, some very nice welds. There's a lot of stuff on my car that doesn't fall into the "need" category, like Fastbrakes vs. other Nissan brakes, but they work really, really well. 10-lb Traklites for both road DD use and everything else are pretty much overkill, but once you roll on 10-lb wheels for awhile, you won't go back.

I'm glad the former owner bought or obtained a lot of stuff he didn't "need", it gave me the confidence to pick up the car sight unseen, and just get in, roll off 3000 miles from Friday afternoon to Monday lunchtime, without a hitch.

I mean hell, if I went through 3 rads in 6 years let alone in half that time, I'd overkill its replacement so I don't have to even think about it anymore.

^Thank you for this post

Exactly. No one NEEDS a GTI-R swap, or a turbo sentra for that matter. When I am doing my build I am using parts that I know are functional, and do the job correctly. A KOYO may seem a waste or overkill to some, but I need parts that wont leave me stranded on the side of the road. I hate cheap asses as well but dont like to "waste" money.
I am still going to buy a KOYO since its almost the same price as a new NX or GTI-R radiator. Its their money and who cares how much you payed for your NX radiator, you lucked out. IMO, anytime you put money into these cars, its a bad investment so in essence a KOYO at least is money put towards a functional part that is very vital to the life of your motor.

That would be MR 4 dr. thats why he started this thread.

I was talking to you about having good parts. My SE-R also came with a lot of good parts on it. Sorry if the post was a bit garbled.

^Yeah it was me with the bad used radiator experiences. Actually this is how it goes.

I bought the car in March of 06.
1) It had the stock rad in it.
2) Motor swap and then a used NX rad went in it. It FAIL
3) Picked up another used NX rad. It FAIL
4) Used my 1.6L auto rad until the BNIB NX rad I have pending can get to me. It FAIL

^So actually my car has seen 4 radiators.

^This is why I'm going for a new one with zero miles on it.

According to DRE the stock NX won't leave you stranded and i think he knows his stuff and besides that he lives in florida where is does get pretty hot...no?

Anyway I am Sorry I said anything.......goodluck guys with your radiators, which i have nothing against, but i can guarantee you I won't overheat with my nx rad pushing 24 psi on a 90* day either, and I would hardly call me a cheap person btw....lol. I just bought a 750 turbo, a 300 headunit ,a 2600 car and even 100 dollars on my stock nx badges from greg V oh and I'm buying a 300 tranny tomorrow!...lol

I am sorry if I came off like a D ick and apologize to you and my boy MR-4Door-SR20DE. Maybe if i find one at the right price I will grab one myself

^In GA the worms don't make it across the street. Once they get out of the dirt, they cook like slim jims to the pavement. I can drop a egg and watch it cook. The vapors from the pavement is fierce!
