Swapping an SR into A GA equipped vehicle,
wondering if anyone has done this, used the search came up with about 500 different threads and dont have time to look through them all. so i was wondering if anyone could give me the issues they have had with wiring if this has been done, i have the full harness from a SR as well as the ECU, axles trans all that stuff. thanks for the help in advance.

^This is me being nice. The bold will get you flamed on here. I would say make time to read some threads, or pay somebody that has done the swap successfully to do the work for you.

well when i typed in GA swap it came up with lookin to buy and stuff like that, guess i needed to narrow my search down, but thanks for that. also, this is for a B14(OBD II) , so like it says it may be different but i dont need pricing i have pretty much all the stuff any problems i run into i can get the parts, the question i have is does this just plug and play or are wires needed to be spliced in order for everything to run correctly

What car are you swapping the SR20 into? Into a GA16DE B14 you say? First thing is to get the matching years for the ECU and ENGINE WIRING HARNESS.

SR20 B13 wiring harness info from 91-94 Nissan Sentra SE-R

91-92 same
93 a little different from 91-92 and 94
94 different from 91-92 and 93

SR20 B14 wiring harness info from 95-98 200sx SE-R

95-97 same I believe
98 different

ok ill give you the run down on donor car and parts car, parts car was a 97 SE-R everything came off there, and the 200sx is no 98, no bubble lights i believe its a 96. so all parts are coming from the 97 and going into the 96 but my question is, will the SE-R wiring harness just plug into the SE? or will there be some fabbing, or splicing that sort of thing.

Simple swap, take all mounts including the bracket that attaches to the frame rail for the tranny mount, Engine harness will plug right in /w no issues, if you are using the SER cluster use the SER dash harness if not it will still work with the SE cluster.
Are you doing auto to manual or just GA to SR?

^Now this will reflect on the SE-R or SE cluster statement you made. If you get matching years from 1.6 Manual to 2.0 Manual the cluster should have the same plugs. If it is 1.6 Auto to 2.0 Manual, then he will have to modify the harness as the 1.6 Auto does not have the tach.

i could never find a sr20 harness to match my 97 ga16 200sx. so i'm still using my ga16 harness on my sr20ve motor. but you need a sr20 ecu. ( mine is calum programed)

^How much splicing did you have to do on the engine side? Is the actual GA16 Engine harness plug in for the ECU side the same as the SR20 plug in, or did you have to mod that as well?

nope, both were obdII plugs so the ecu and harness plugged right in. i had to pull the harness apart just to extend the injectors wires to reach but no cutting.

The only thing I had to do was switch the connectors right in front of the intake manifold. ( i didn't want to cut them so i just took apart the connectors and put the correct plugs on.) i do not think you will run into this problem if your just swapping in a sr20de motor.
