Thread: Transmission Project

Well I am going to be getting a B15 transmission soon (putting the p11 final drive in it, as well as a phantom grip FLSD) and while I have it apart, would it be worth while to have the gears cryotreated? What else could I cryotreat while I have it apart (and it being beneficial)?

My B14 transmission let go of 3rd on Wednesday the 5th.

What else would be a good idea to replace while it is apart?

I dont think you should have to even worry about the gears being treated. Haven't heard of any real problems with the b15 / p11 transmissions even on very high hp cars. I've been told the Phantom Grip is quite the best lsd you could get though. It might be worth it to track down a nismo diff.

I know it isn't the best but it's better than the stock right? It would compliment the stock one...

If I can find a nismo diff for cheaper than the going rate then I will get one.

I have read a few posts where people have trashed b15/p11 trannys. I figure I'm going to have to have the gear stacks off anyways to install the p11 final drive, so I might as well make the tranny as strong as possible. I don't want to have to be doing this again.

My question is what all should I have cryotreated besides all of the gears? Any shafts or other parts that could benefit from it in the transmission?
