Ignition Control Module???
i was going over the engine bay just checking stuff out (my usual sunday routine) and i came across what looks to be the icm.

it was just plugged in, and zip tied off to the side. so i'm not sure if that means its giving a signal out or not. so i took it and grounded it, thats just my first instinct as to what it might go to (don't icm's go to ground?).

does it have any use in my b13, ve swap? i mean i don't have any cel's or store codes. just wanting to know for peace of mind.

ignition control modules ddnt exist on the B13 from what i know

it must be something else

maybe MSD?

its this guy below. on rockauto its under ignition control module and distibutor power transistor. wonder what its plugged into if its not used.

I'm 90% sure your car won't start if it isn't plugged in, did you try it? I might be thinking of that other thing though that is by the throttle body but that looks like it?

it is used i think that is what is called the ignitor

it is plugged in, i never unplugged it. the car runs great, i just don't know if it has an actual spot.

it's not the tps, i'm good there.

i searched a little and ignitor is definitely another name for it. but still no word on where it goes on a n/a car any. best i could find was near the coil. on the det a couple posts said it didn't have to be mounted/grounded to work. is this truth?

I removed that when I went to Coil-On-Plug and am very familiar with it. It's basically a heavy-duty transistor (power transistor in the FSM). It mounts right by the coil, on the same bracket if my memory is correct. Sorry no pictures. It does not need to be grounded, so you can mount it how ever you'd like.

It connects to ECU Pins 1 and 116 on my 1994 SE-R. I'm not 100% sure on it's purpose, but it's clearly ignition related. I used to know at one point but can't remember well enough.

Since the back side has some metal on it i would mount it to the chassis. Since it is used as a heatsink you might cause premature failure. I do not know for sure but that is what i would think seeing that it has metal on one side.

It fires the coil. Your ignition coil is a high-voltage transformer- a pulse on the low voltage side is stepped up to a high-voltage pulse on the high side. The power transistor is what the ECU uses to pulse the low side of the coil.

Ignition coils are fun if you want to shock the sh*t out of your self, or build your own plasma panel-
