Thread: clutch cable adjuster

so im trying to do this reducer trick... and the thumbwheel/adjuster is bottomed out against the 10mm right were the clutch cable goes to the tranny..what the hell can i do to undo it....i even used PB blaster for a whole night and it still didnt com undone....

how hard is it to repalce the entire cable from the pedal to the trans?

You have to loosen the nut before you can move the thumb wheel. Use a pair of vise grips to hold on the the cable further up where it is square. Then loosen the nut, then the thumb wheel will move freely. You might want to replace the whole cable if it is original anyway.
Its not that hard if you have tiny hands, but still not that bad.

Losen the nut first...then try and spin the wheel. If it still wont spin, tap it with the end of a screw driver a couple times and wiggle the cable around alittle. Thats what I do atleast and it works like a charm everytime.

well thanks to godamn vice grips to hold the squar part of the cable ans turning the thumbwheel/adjuster, the ****ing cable snapped!!! so now i cant get to work yet!!!

good thing i have 2 personal days left......


so about this 1.6 clutch cable..who has used one?

I'm using the B13 GA cable on my B14 with P11 tranny. No reducer required.

You have to loosen the nut first, then the thumb wheel. I am not sure how you snapped the cable but it sounds like it was pretty bad.

Be happy it didn't snap while you were driving.

idk either...the thumbwheel was so coroded (sp)? so i hade to use a set of pliers while holding the 10mm nut at the end of the cable.



tell me about it. i was finishing up the job as im putting the thumbwheel back together..then SNAP!!! i was like damn.

so i just placed an order for a OEM cable from the dealer....for 92$!!! ****ing dollars!!!!!damn....and i have to wait till thursday!

while i install it i just might do a wirte up for some people.....just to show how small your hands need to be...to fit behind the clutch pedal
