Thread: What future automotive tech are you most looking forward to?

What tech would you add to your car if you could, or you're hoping will be in your next car, or would get you to purchase a new car, or would you like to see gain traction in the marketplace?

I'm using this to reacquaint myself with how polls work and test a few things while I work to get polls converted to the new forum software.

I don't have the tapatalk app on my phone. Mobile version never shows alot of stuff, like polls and info for classifieds. Does not alert you to post quotes, posts likes, mentions, etc.

Now if I go to my browser settings on my phone and request desktop site it shows up just like a pc.

It has been like this on my last 3 phones.

I want camless engines, badly.

Same. It's the only interesting technology ATM. Variable cr is meh at best.

No doubt there are insurmountable problems I'm not aware of, but I'd like to see true rotary valves instead of poppet valves. Maybe the sealing is impossible? If you can seal a rotary engine, a rotary value should be possible? I'm not talking about the Coats valve system, I'm talking about the air having a straight shot from the intake manifold to the combustion chamber. The amount of air flow, and the revs capable would be glorious.

Realistically I'd like to see autonomous cars ASAP, assuming sane regulation (we can still drive non-autonomous cars until they all die out) and assuming sane insurance (manufacturers insure the vehicles instead of the owners if it's being driven autonomously and a collision occurs; Volvo has suggested they would do this).

I'm also looking forward to the first OEM all-electric with a manual transmission. Taking a ride in a Tesla, that's what it seemed to be missing the most.
Maybe it never happens. Even a CVT would be great...
