Brand new 2015 Alfa Romeo, report after 10k miles. WTF
Guy I know bought a brand new 2015 Alfa Romeo last year, basically one of these:
.

.
Looks cool, but here's his report as he turned 10,000 miles on it. This is so ridiculous:

"Just rolled over 10,000 miles with my 2015 Alfa, driving it everyday. Here's the damage:

- Paddle shifters will stick and lock the car in gear, stalling it and setting it into limp mode. This is a common issue with these cars and requires major repairs.

- Car needs an oil change and it lets you know....constantly. It gives a "change oil" notification every 30 seconds on the dash and it can't be overridden or reset until the oil is actually changed by a licensed dealer. (Doing it next weekend).

- Revving it above 5k puts it into limp mode immediately. Whole dash lights up like a goddamn Christmas tree. May be related to lack of oil change, will find out next weekend.

- Engine is make strange clicking noises and exhaust sounds abnormal. Transmission is also shifting at different points then when I first purchased the car. Engine surges sometimes for no reason.

- Clunking noises from front passenger side suspension, and it's constant. No, I didn't hit a pothole or a curb, I've been very careful to slow down for anything hazardous in this car. Will also get that looked at next week.

- Stock radio was a piece of shit. I swapped it out the first week I purchased the car. The wires were getting crimped because the first radio was installed incorrectly.

- The plastic pieces on the front of the car are BLACK-PAINTED, WHITE PIECES OF PLASTIC. When you get a rock chip you now have a white spot on the front of your car. Time to buy some touch up paint.

There's a lot more that I can't think of at the moment."

What bonehead thought it was a good idea to program a chime and warning light when the oil is overdue according to the odometer? And to go off every 30 seconds? I don't know if there's another way to reset it other than taking it to the dealer but that's absolutely ridiculous! A lot of money for a lot of problems. Also white colored body parts on a black car is hilarious. That car looks pretty bad ass but wow.

Another guy wrote: "An Alfa Romeo is like a really really hot girl. They all come with problems that even the people who made them can't figure out"

Its an Alpha Romeo.. enough said!

BTW: Tesla cars have had their share of problems as well... many of them have been covered up because of non-disclosure agreements owners have signed that are now coming out of hiding. Here is 1 example story about this:

A little off topic, but my brother got this brand new 2015 WRX last year, here it is next to one of my B14s:

.

Within a few days, the MIL came on. He took it to the dealer and they cleared it. A year later at 20k miles it was making a clunking sound when he turned. Still under warranty (36k) he took it to the Subaru dealer and it turns out it needed ALL new springs/struts on all four corners. He babied that thing and have no idea what the heck happened. ??

I guess my point is, new =/= good

^ because subaloser! lol

Honestly I want no part of a subaru either. I've seen those damn things blow up engines more than any other car at the track! There is this guy who works on them and loves all the failures because it means back-to-back work to keep him busy.. Ironic part is his own wife's STI blew up its engine.. so yeah, about that...

An Italian Chrysler built in Mexico, what could go wrong?

We're two years and 20k into the Mazda6 and so far it had to have its TPMS reset and we got a service bulletin in the mail for the outside trim between the front and rear doors, that's it and I'm good with it. Other than that it still feels like a new car.

Nice. What was the other issue about the WRX rod bearings or something?

If you google subaru engine problems, you will find some of the following:

- excessive oil consumption (including a class action lawsuit)
- head gasket problems (pretty sure everyone has heard of this)

and fun articles like this:

Owner Says Nightmare Subaru Has Killed Four Engines Within 3,000 Miles

I've just seen them blow up at the track when used under load constantly.. they just can't take it! .. something about the factory tune is just wrong I think. <-- tuned too damn lean so it can pass emissions I believe.

Subies had at least two different head gasket failure issues from the 90's into the 00's. I don't know when or if they ever straightened it out. I stopped playing attention.

Funny that we're talking about Subaru considering the thread is about an Alfa. Good friend of mine who moved to Georgia a few years back, his wife just messaged my wife. Exiting I95 today in her well maintained (he's a Nissan tech) 28k, 2015 Cross trek (or whatever they call it) brakes quit. She stomped on the pedal and the car spun completely around twice and came to a rest on the shoulder a few feet from a steep embankment. Car was towed to the dealer. This should be interesting.
