Axed Employee paystubs
My employer recently axed pay stubs from the work place and made everything available online. They did this without the consent of the employee's themselves. We are non union workers. The employer provides internet access. Is this illegal? There is just something about all of this that just does not seem right. I'm old school I like my traditional stub provided to me, Is there anything the employee can do to combat this?

The DoD has done this for a number of years to save paper. They're kept "online" for one calendar year. There is however, the option to continue the paper stub as well. Although this may now not be an option. I've used the online option exclusively for a number of years now as it saves paper and keeps my mailbox debris down. I would say though that there should still be the option for paper, or at the very least be able to request the print out from them or do it yourself using their facilities.

My job recently went paperless. It happened about 1 year ago.

It is legal and is getting more and more popular by the day.

Also I found it weird and annoying at first, but give it some time and you will get use to it. I actually like it more this way now.

I had the option to go paperless or stay with paper.

Axed Employee paystubs
I wouldn't mind if my company did that as long as there was an option to print them. I like my paper stubs but having them online would keep me from misplacing them.

If it's online, I would imagine it could be printed.

I work for a state agency. We were given the option of a paper stub for 2 years and then were required to switch to on line statements. It's not illegal but I think employers have to provide access to a computer and printer or print it for you if requested.

I got used to just printing mine out at work on paydays. The online statements look just like the old paper ones. The plus side is that if paper copy is misplaced or an extra copy is needed, I can just print out another one.

Why would it be illegal?

They say it's illegal in certain states. They had problems implementing it when the program first started because of it. It's a headache for me because I have no printer or internet access at home. I won't use a public access computer. To access the internet at work is a pain in the ass, you need two passcodes to access the internet those passwords have to be changed monthly, then you need a passcode for the paystub site. then the time it takes to do all off that. Just pisses me off I rather them send them to my home or to give me the traditional check. I just like tracking all my records on paper there is no replacement in my eyes. Too many tricks can be pulled once everything goes electronic. Let's look at the stock market.
