The Derbi does not need insurance, a special class, registration etc. Keep in mind the MPG are what the previous owner told me who was 6 foot 4 inches and about 250.

If your state allows a 49cc and under (scooter law) with no tags or insurance it's pretty cheap fun and can save gas money. There are packs of 49cc pit bikes that just cruise all night around here.
At least in CT anything under 50cc is considered a scooter, I called CT DMV and explained what the bike was and the woman said the same thing.
