The Acura ILX Is The Modern Day Infiniti G20
The Acura ILX Is The Modern Day Infiniti G20 | The Truth About Cars

This guy is not wrong, kind of funny actually.

Of course, it’s also important to compare pricing. Back in 1991, the G20 started at $17,500, which – adjusted for inflation – comes to $29,055, according to a rather dodgy inflation calculator I discovered using Google. And how does the ILX compare? It’s so spot-on that you have to wonder if Acura found the very same inflation calculator: the ILX with the Civic Si engine starts at exactly $29,200.

Ouch! Can't believe it was THAT expensive. I believe P11's were 25k in 2000, guess with inflation 30ish too. Now I can't believe my Legacy GT (Turbo, AWD, much better handling then P11) was only 30k brand new...

Paying for the name, not the car.

Hmm, lets see. I can pay $25k for a Civic SI sedan or I can pay $30k for a Civic SI sedan? I'll take the Civic SI sedan.

No, actually I'll take a used P10 for $2k.

But you can get a B13 for $1.5k!

IMO G20 is MUCH better then B13, B14, or B15 interior quality wise (Part of the reason I decided to sell the B15 and keep my p11). But the fact that it's a heavier car with same amount of horsepower is what killed the G20 and it's probably what will kill the ILX.

The cash money saved between a $25k 2014 Civic SI and a $2k P10 could make it plenty fast. And pay for a vacation, and beer, and wine, and beer.

Ya...I test drove a P11 back when they came out, and I just couldn't get over how sedate that chassis made a stock SR20DE feel.

I'm looking to get one as a DD soon, though!

A civic will still feel cheap at the end of the day, just not something you can really fix. That is the issue I saw with B15 vs P11. Heck even Forester vs Legacy. I don't buy new cars, so I dunno if a nicer feel would be $5k worthy to me, by the time I would buy the car the difference would be around $1k.
