Despite my obvious gripes with my scubie... they are kinda hard to argue with overall.

For just the sake of hauling camera gear cross country though I almost regret not just buying the 6sp Mazda5

I considered the Mazda5, but the wife thinks it looks to much like a minivan and I somewhat agree, just not enough to take it off the table. What took it off the table for me was reading lots of gripes about it from owners. Especially suspension problems and tire wear issues.

If I were buying new it would be the Mazda CX5, or Mazda6 as a possible second choice.

The new 3 hatch is a hot piece of affordable automotive ass... but the cargo capacity is a little tight for my current needs unfortunately.
