Well I can send you all the conversion parts for only $25 paypal and shipping Looking hard at STi TMIC real soon.

Most people are telling me that's a pretty long life for these turbos. I hear they go out ~80k or so. Are you sure yours is original? You never know what prev. owner really did.

Yeah I really don't know indeed, I do have a carfax but it only showed things like belts replaced.

Thinking about this, I think I know why Subi turbo's might not last long. When I first hooked up the ScanGauge 2, I setup the AFR and boost gauges on them. According to stock sensors it runs very lean AFR's, even at 0 psi its still running 14.7's. I was hoping it would be piggy rich like Nissans are so that I could help the gas mileage, but when I saw AFR's that plan went away.

So I just dragged the car out to San Ramon CA from Illinois behind a loaded rental truck. FWIW Penske was way cheaper and way nicer than U-haul.

I took it off the trailer this afternoon and it fired up and ran fine, but I am getting a burning rubber smell. Not real strong but noticeable when I get out of the car.
What might this mean? Any ideas?

Also @Vadim ; Isn't that a scary looking turbine side?

Penske anyday over U-Haul, I'm surprised U-Haul is even in business with how much cheaper Penske is!

That turbine is very scary!

Dude after two days in that truck the Forester felt so low. My bud thought it was dropped... well he's known me for years and usually that is true.

Check that the passenger side valve cover is not leaking. They seem to start around 120k miles and the passenger side leaks onto the up pipe. Mine was leaking on the bottom corner, and it was a PITA to get to.

It was a rubber smell though not oil. It seems to be gone now, but It's getting the turbo noise again.

I don't want to ruin this one so if anyone knows a good mechanic in San Ramon lemme know. Thinking the turbo oil feed is clogged (didn't figure this part out until it was too late) Also looking to get STi TMIC to fit properly.

Does 08+ STi TMIC fit this car? Researching....

I bought an 08 STi TMIC but it needs the BOV and recirc hose. Decided to go with this one over the 04-07 because it was in better condition, cheaper and bigger but also with no red "STi" logo on the top it should be better for CA visual inspection.
