I love how the current Maximas handle especially for a fwd car. Have you ever test drove one?

Damn cvt's

I actually didn't get to test drive the Maxima. How is it? Torque steer? I forget, is it the same VQ35DE engine?

Yes still a vq35. Didn't experience any torque steer. Handles quite well on high speed turns. The handling is the only thing performance wise that seperates the two. I probably would of taken the same route as you though and save some $.

That's how Nissan oil lights work, not sure about other manufactures, but you could be running on one QT of oil, and as long as it's enough for oil pickup to get, the oil pressure will remain high. One of my coworkers has an 02 Maxima, it had so little oil that rockers were making noise, still no light. I thought it was a loose TB bolt in the cylinders! As soon as I added oil, it ran perfectly.

Does the Maxima also have Mac Struts still? If this Altima had double wishbone front suspension I would definitely get it to replace the P11. It's so nice to lower a car and not worry about bump steer or messed up alignment.

Why did your coworker have so little oil? Did it have a leak or was he one of those people who "forgot" to change their oil for 20,000 miles (I know someone who did that to a 1992 Toyota Tercel. the engine blew at about 28,000 miles with no oil changes)

As far as the Altima, so far so good in terms of ride quality. It's firm but not TOO firm like B13 with a 2" drop. And it also has 18" wheels with 225/45 size tires, but so far it really hasn't been harsh at all, an occasional pothole, but it takes the speedbumps pretty well.

Here's my actual motor:

Here's a '06 350Z motor:

You can kind of see the similarities. I think the Z motor is rated at 287hp.. but surprisingly I read the Altima is lighter?

He's not a car guy, he trusted a shop with an oil change. But also it seems like his motor is majorly consuming oil by now (no leaks), thus the only other place it can go is into the combustion chamber...

These things can take under 05 350'z's always hilarious to see a guy in a z cars look as you pass them. Miss mine, watch out for excessive oil consumption, and problems with the cat sucking into the engine. Also if your clutch pedal goes to the floor you need to replace the clutch fluid with dot 5..may been 5.1 been 3 years since i owned mine. The fluid nissan used thins out WAY TO MUCH when u drive alot and causes loss of pressure.

Also i hope you know it was hit in the front at some point, bumper fitment is off and thats a replacement bumper.

Watch that oil man, i had my motor rebuilt at 25k from nissan, and they only made it worse when they rebuilt her, had performance loss and oil consumption come back even though they replaced the shortblock. I miss my se-r, there a sexy looking car, hard to find, comfy, and a blast to drive.

God i miss her, one car i regret having to get rid of, but when i was told by a guy on a datsun forum that worked at the nissan dealer anonymously a month after the rebuild that some guys fucked it up on purpose because they were pissed i was coming by to much (i lived won the street and they were 3 weeks behind schedule on finishing the car) I sold it, about 4 months later get a email from the guy i sold it to the motor blew, nissan wouldnt do shit about it for him which was bullshit i knew was going to happen. Just watch things man, and if you have any questions you can ask me, did alot of research on these and know alot about them from being ont he forums for years with them, know most of their ticks and little issues.

Also the fogs for these things break easily, i suggest this that i made and showed others to make on the fourms.

All you do is take kids plastic easter egg bottom half, get 2 extra fog bezels for 20 bucks on ebay, glue in the egg portion, then fill the back of it with something so it isnt hollow and can take a impact, just a bit of glue once hardened is good to reinforce it, then paint and put on durring the winter to protect the fogs from rock chips.

If you cant tell im always excited talking about these things, i really do miss mine. And seeing a silver one makes me miss it more. Will post some more random pics.

Are you serious???? Does anyone have a Carfax available, I asked the place I bought it from about any accidents he said no it was garage kept and perfect shape.

If someone can run a carfax for me and it really was in a collision I'm going to call them tomorrow and flip shit. Not that I expect anything to come from it, but maybe they wont do it next time to someone
