The MPG readings over short periods of time are pretty useless. You need to do a lot more miles for them to be more accurate. I generally fuel up at around 70miles, which is the first 1/4 tank for me and get fairly consistent numbers.

Even over a half hour on the highway at the same speed?

That's a bit better yeah, with highway driving I usually do 100 miles between fill ups when I'm testing MPG's.

I generally don't trust the electronic MPG monitoring devices (years of inaccuracy with Scangauge etc.). Take it with a grain of salt but always verify actual pump fuel up data.

Careful about the rust on the floors, they tend to have problems with that

Very nice and congratulations!

You mentioned it handles like shit (lol I laugh at the boat comment)

I love how the current Maximas handle especially for a fwd car. Have you ever test drove one?

Damn cvt's

Almost got one!! I think it was a 2008, but it was a lot more money, than and not enough room and the gas mileage wasn't as good (I think like 16/25 or something) - I've been getting 24mpg in city in the Altima and hit 35 on the highway with cruise set at 65mph after about a half hour. Not too bad. (Although nothing compares to my then new at the time 2007 Honda Fit, which I hit 46mpg once on a 2 hour trip, using 93 octane with cruise set at 65mph, that was insane. Yes I have actually owned Hondas. I've owned (in order) of appearance

'84 Honda Civic hatch (my very first car when I was 16. It wasn't bad but ended up breaking down all the time and we junked it)
'93 Sentra XE
'91 Sentra SE-R (this is when the SR20 bug got me, circa 2000, I still miss that car)
'98 Sentra SE
'94 Sentra LE (great little automatic beater. It was the limited edition one with power windows and locks and stuff. It was great and it had like 220k on it)
'90 Chevy Silverado Truck (some huge extended cab work truck)
'04 Ford Escape
'06 Nissan Pathfinder (AWESOME SUV. My favorite, ever. Handled amazing. Fantastic in everyway..... EXCEPT the MPG again. I was lucky to get 20mpg highway)
'07 Honda Fit Sport. (5-speed, slow as crap, 109 horsepower and like 98 ft lbs of torque, but gave me 90,000 trouble free miles, and fantastic gas mileage)
'04 Kia Sorento (Not bad, but lotsa little gremlins here and there. Gas mileage was pretty bad too, but it was great in the snow.
'93 Sentra SE-R (Total POS, rusted out, owned it for 2 months)
'91 Senta SE-R
'97 200sx SE-R (current car but for sale)
'92 Sentra SE-R (current with VE swap)
'06 Altima SE-R (what I just got)

Phew that's a lot of Nissans. The Pathfinder was AMAZING. **AMAZING**. I don't know how the new models are, but that 2005-2010 model was just a wonderful machine. If it only was more fuel efficient, I would have gotten another one.

I actually didn't get to test drive the Maxima. How is it? Torque steer? I forget, is it the same VQ35DE engine?
