With those choices I'd go SI but would be a bit concern if it was beaten on.

I'd rather have the older 05-06 xrs. Just get a camry if your gonna go toyota. My 04 matirx didn't hold up very well which makes me a bit bias.

I heard the b16 se-r's have a bunch of issues.

Rob, I can see you in an Acura bro

You can blame me... I told Rob to look at something cheaper & more practical.

For what you need Rob...
- Daily Driver
- Some Spirited Driving
- Good on gas
...it's only a matter of keeping your foot from the spirited area and the Civic SI will do great on gas and remind you of the VVL noise that the nissan makes. But if you can't tame the speed demon from within I would say go with the Corolla XRS. Toyota has done well in that sedan.

Maybe you take a test drive in the Honda vs Toyota and make a decision also based on cabin and trunk space, just incase you need to take that into consideration from time to time.

BTW, You have a monster in the garage for "spirited" driving as well if the Toyota is a bit more sluggish than the Honda.

OK I was thinking about this thread today in the back of my mind and thought Mazda 3. I rented one a while back and was very impressed with the way it handled and the pep it had being it was the smaller (I think 2.0) engine. The 2.5 should have plenty of power. I've read the engine with the sky active technology gets 40 mpg. The interiors are pretty decent.

I know most would probably say mazdaspeed but most people I know got bored of them after 2-3 years of ownership plus the added price of both sticker and mpg's even though there not to bad with the six speed. But then your gonna have another car thats gonna hit you with the mod bug.
