I've been highly interested in buying one, the BRZ, but with the STi option supposedly coming out next year...I'm holding out on it until then.

White or Red BRZ Limited...soon enough!

I want one. Not financially a good choice at present, but I may be selling the WRX when I return from Afghanistan to put a down payment on a BRZ. Just not sure if I want to sacrifice AWD.

I nearly pulled the trigger on a brand new WRX. Amazing car as well, and no compromise to practicality. If only the 2.5 were more robust. Ring land failures are everywhere on stock ones here, we only get 91 octane. There have been a lot of issues there. Its sad.

But the new WRX looks so great!

With the STI having such limited additions, I'm not gonna hold my breath for one. They said they are keeping it NA, which it will likely be another trim addition with only a couple added features. Bigger brakes and spoiler, perhaps body work, and suspension. All things that won't stay stock for me anyway lol.

Very true...it's not going to be an over the top difference as far as performance goes, but my intentions are to keep the vehicle long term and an STi model will hold the value that much more for me if/when I decide to let it go.

The STi additions rumored have been pretty good...brakes, different aero and interior options as well as an overall stiffer chassis and more aggressive/appealing wheels. Depending on the price, it may be worth the wait...we have a good 6 months to toggle on it tho

yeah the tunes on these cars are horrible, worse on the sti than the wrx. so you either flash a stage 1 map and lose the warranty, or keep it stock and let Subaru replace the shit pistons over and over again.. i flashed stage 1 at 1400 miles, and then stage 2 at 4k. so far so good, although my dealer also owns the performance Subaru shop, and already told me they would do a "one time" replacement if the motor pops..makes me feel a little better..lol and the factory 5w30 is also really bad..

The STI will likely be a 2015 model and come out the end of next year... and with a 6-month wait for my Limited, the STI is likely going to have a similar wait and even smaller quantities. But if they do anything to the chassis to improve stiffness, it will likely be just bolt-on stuff. Otherwise, they'll end up with a 220hp-240hp STI that costs over 40k and still doesn't keep up with a factory WRX.

I don't wanna steal the STI thunder, but I don't know how they are going to be able to do much with the platform without pushing the price to a point that is justifiable. I certainly can't justify the 40k they want for the current STI even though it is a great value.

Even the tune on the BRZ is pretty bad. A stage 1 basic flash yields 10whp peak gains with 4-20whp around the peak. An E85 tune gets you to the 200whp threshold.

In import tuner they mention how sensitive the factory ecu is. With a drop in filter, full exhaust and midpipes w/ secondary cat delete they were only able to squeeze 6whp more out of the motor. They said the ecu is just so finiky without a tune. They did say a tune would probably yeild more in itself than the bolt ons combined. The a/f's were all whack from what they were saying.

That is true of any Subaru ECM.
