Thread: azenis 615's for the scooby?

i know everyone is useing the star specs now but the tread wear is 140 (iirc) and i drive an hour to and an hour from work every day so i need tires that will hopefully last me atleast two summers. the 615's are 200 tread wear but only have 8/32's of tread brand new.

my other option is BFG g-force sports at 340 tread wear. stock tire size is 205/55/16, if i get the 615's ill run 215/45/16, if i get the g-forces ill run either a 205/45/16 or a 225/50/16. my stock wheels are 6.5inches wide so the 225's may be a big wide, im trying to talk a friend out of his 2.5rs 16's because they are 7 or 7.5inches wide.

my question is to those (and i know theres alot of you) that have run the 615's on how long they have lasted, i dont want to go lower than a 200 tread ware rating because of how much i drive.

Azenis come molded with a 8/32nds tread depth that's lower than most street tires from the onset. It's a quasi-motorsports tire designed to provide grip and minimal tread squirm, not rain evacuation or longevity. The 615's peak grip would get heat-cycled to death on a two-hour commute, and not last an especially long time.

Maybe check out the conti extreme dw's. Heard good things. Apparently avg 1.5ish slower than rs3 in dry but better by the same in the wet.

If you drive that much you really don't want an Azenis tire imo. The Forester guys seem to really like the continentals^

I have a set of the G-force sports on the Forester and I like these tires. I also had a set on my last 200sx. While they are holding up well the Forester is chewing through them at a decent rate.

Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Position

I bought a set of those for my Spec V in 215/45/17, and the tread width was MASSIVE. They're seriously oversized. They also stick like glue at Auto-x, and worked VERY well in the rain.

They do tend to lose some grip once they're overheated, but a couple hundred miles seemed to get rid of the wore out rubber, and brought it back to the fun zone.

The tire rack reviews also seem to say the same thing. A great tire with many of the good characteristics of the more expensive Extreme summer tires, while offering even better wet traction, and longer life.

I just picked up a set of the Continental DW's fore the STi pretty happy so far pretty grippy but soft sidewall and hardly any road noise.

I think I'll just get the Bfg g force sports. I have a lead on some 2.5rs wheels so I can run 225's instead of 205's.

Did you consider the Kumho's ? If i remember right they had very good summer tires that would last longer than the SCCA STS type tires.

Hankook Ventus 112's, like what I have. Great wet/dry grip. C'mon Pete! You know you like 'em.

Don't like the tread pattern. To swoopy, I prefer a chunky/blocky tread.
