Nothing can compare to the Pontiac Aztec. It is a beast all its own. It wins every comparison it is entered into, because there is no direct competitor.

grab a used ap1 for 14k. you still have 13k to play with and make the ap1 as fast as you would ever imagine whether its in a straight line or around corners. it would still be comfy on the inside, and modded however you wanted.

the car sounds like a cool car honestly. but for 27k there is better things to be bought dollar per dollar that can be daily driven and not give you headaches. personally id go the ap1 route, and learn how to drive the car at the limit, and start modding it. there is plenty extra money left over for that...

Please show me any of the cars you just stated for under 30k new and ill buy it. 27k new is miles away from any of the cars you just mentioned new in price.

If I were being forced to spend $27k and I absolutely had to buy a new car with it, no matter what, and I couldn't sell it to get my money back, I would do one of the following.

Mazdaspeed3 and burn $3k in the fireplace

Mazda3 hatch and burn $7.7k in the fireplace

Scion iQ and burn $11k in the fireplace

Mazda2 and burn $13.4k in the fireplace

Sometimes I wonder about you...

PS - Subaru GT300 Qualifies 8th, but experiences drivetrain failure in Japan GT cup. Ahead of Audi R8's, Lambo's, etc.

Pretty impressive for a first year car, IMO.

How do you possibly pick a new FR-S over a new Miata (clown-face and all)?

By the way, chiquae07 said $27k for the FR-S but that is off by $2k. They are listed at $25k starting. (I don't see Subaru pricing yet.)

Probably for the same reason you picked a clown shoe over an M3.

Yah well we all have our subjective opinions on aesthetics. That could be a reason to buy anything, over anything else. What about objective traits?

Okay, I'll play your game:
1. Different class of car. MS3 is 32XXlbs, and FWD.
2. Again, different class of car. Still 32XXlbs and FWD.
3. Yet again, different class of car. FWD. 1.3L
4. Another perfect example of a different class of car.

I'm being objective. If I'm looking at a Subayota, I've already narrowed my objectivity down to the "class" of vehicle that this falls into. This also means that I'm okay with spending the money on it.

I don't follow your logic in that if you HAD to spend $27K, you'd burn half of it. You'd obviously want the MOST for your money, not mediocrity.

In my opinion, those four cars would be MORE for my money. If I were forced to deal with the car, I'd prefer to deal with either of them, even as a sports car, over the Toyobaru. If I could sell the damn thing and recoup the costs, of course my choice would be different. It would no longer be about what car I'd rather have, it would be about what car I could get rid of and get the most of my money back ASAP.

My point is that they are all cars. They can all be compared. If I'm in the market for a car, (as someone who is in the market for a Toyobaru would have to be) then all cars are fair game. You say you'd already have narrowed your choices down to 2dr, FR-layout, around 2.0L, around 2,750 lbs. and around $25k? Well shit. You have three choices on this planet. The FR-S, the BRZ, and the Miata. Not even the RX-8 or the Genesis Coupe are competitors now. But the Miata wins, no?
Or are you going to narrow it down to hard-tops only? Then you can be in the Toyobaru and no other car matters...
