Not to say all of your suggestions are not good, valid, truthful, but the formulation of your opinion is different than mine and others who like this car for none of those reasons.

To each their own...

this is what I meant...your numbers are relative and just your opinion, but back on track, Im really considering this when I get back to the states. Of course grabbing a couple of JDM parts before I go

I talked to a guy yesterday at a shop that works with someone, I forget what position, at subaru and he said that there will definitely be an STi version and it'll come with a 2.0L turbo. He claims because the piston walls will be thicker so they can turn up the boost without too much worry of blowing head gaskets... take it for what it's worth.

edit: i didn't read the whole thread so sorry if this was stated already.

Dont mix up your CHP and WHP

I understand CHP vs. WHP, that's why I said "HP", and not "rwhp". All I was trying to suggest is this: Do you enjoy driving your 215FWHP SE-R? I'm betting you do. The OVERALL driving experience is what you like. Not a 60' time or 1320' time. Who cares about that in the grand scheme of things? Both cars were not purpose built for a 1320' dragstrip. Even as all reviewers have suggested, if you wrap your head around 60' and 1320' times with this car, you're missing the point. Broaden your mind (Dre I know you can do this, you used to own something that was more qualified than just driving down a 1/4mi. dragstrip)

Toyota sells cars and trucks already with optional supercharged kits from TRD that are full factory warrantied, installed at the dealer with proper ECU.

This is the same plan for the Toyota version.

I would not want one.

If Subaru does a STI version with 275-300 HP, I will be first inline to buy one. I will also bet that if TRD offers their supercharged kit as a TRD option at the dealer which they will then Subaru will do the sme with a Turbo.

Watch and see.

You said it. Optional. To me, optional isn't "out of the box". You can't go to a dealer and pick 10 different options from the lot that all have superchargers. Hence the term "OOB" for me. YMMV?

Agreed. You're not buying this car for a dragstrip. Hell, you're more likely to buy this car for drifting than a dragstrip.

Oh, and as others have said, Subaru confirmed the BRZ engine will receive a turbo. They haven't yet confirmed whether the BRZ chassis will receive the turbo motor or not, though. Looks like they're using this motor in more than one model car that carries the Subaru logo, now. Mentions of Impreza and Forester are being seen.

I did like them both a year or so ago but now from the b pillar back they look like the new scion SC and im not a fan of that either. I am one of the odd ones i guess and prefer older cars. Just my .02 but I like a car with character. I know the se-r is not RWD and that matters to some. My next car will be RWD but im looking at a e30 or a e30 M3. I am just a motor swap away from destroying either of these cars for cheaper money and alot more personality and the e30s are still rock solid and quiet like a newer car..but im odd

If this car comes turbo i will buy one and most of rhe guys here will buy one too. No tuebo they can keep it. I am not buying a car to go drifting. I am buying a car that can handle and its potential to go fast. In NA form it will only be a handling car. Lastly a good drifting car needs quick power and a good bit of power. Thats why the SR20DET was such a winner. 15 psi, exhaust and filter 250 Whp. 165 Whp aint cutting it.

I hate drifting also, if the wheels aren't sticking, you are just slowing down.

The car should be able to handle extremely well! More so than any of the SR20-powered factory FF cars. (b13, b14, b15, p10, p11 etc...)

I think I want to switch to a FR car and this is a new chassis. My Mother owns a Saturn Sky and they turn extremely well but they are fat for the small N/A engine they get. (2950 lb car with a 177hp, 170tq engine) I really disliked the car with the stock tires it comes with, got new shoes and now the car is actually fun to drive.

Some of us want to go fast, some of us dont. I would prefer a supercharged version of a turbocharged version but N/A is fun also. Quite a purist approach at a vehicle being taken. One that has not been seen in YEARS. Typically, none of us are going to go over 70 MPH 95% of the time....

Maybe I should act like Nate and just get a Miata

I wonder what nate will do with said Miata with the arrival of the BRZ/FR-S... Have been trying to phone him, but no dice. Damn busy engineers acting like their work is engulfing their life.

In NA form, this car will not be fast enough in a straight line for some folks. That is OK.

This car is clearly designed as a handler. Not a 1/4 mile terror. I think the idea is that a lot of higher powered (and more expensive) vehicles would have a bitch of time trying to catch the BRZ/FRS down a twisty mountain road, or around a road-course.

I have always loved my B13 for it's overall well-rounded driving experience. Not how fast or slow it was in a 1/4 mile.

Stratton can blow it off for the 2.0 liter, Dre can wait for the turbo.
