i may buy one of these new when my G35 is paid off.. i am paying 15 days early and $52 extra per month, so my 4 year loan will be shortened considerably.. the Scion version has super-car lines..

i for sure will have to get one. im looking at maybe end of next year.

Anyways, question wnwright; if the boxer based engine cars used double wishbone/independent setups up front, would you not have to raise the engine up by a fairly substantial amount in order to accommodate such a setup?? And if so, would this not devoid the point of the boxer setup in the first place?? (honest questions)

If so, I personally would say "wrong" just from the simple fact of simplicity and price standpoint.

But to get to the point. No, the engine doesn't have to raise up at all for a double wishbone setup. You can either make sure the engine is far back enough, or widen the track of the vehicle, or make the engine a stressed member for packaging, etc.

I try to avoid that at all times.

Not trying to knock the car at all, but there isn't anything special to this car. They took a base model Impreza and reskinned it IMO. People can pick that statement apart all they want, but that is what you are buying. It will be a great car and will handle great. It is a proven design and that along with cost is why they did what they did. IMO strut based suspension cars are handicapped, but AWD overcomes a lot of that IMO.

To be fair, I personally think the engine relocation (and associated RWD transmission) qualifies this for a good bit more than just an Imprezza re-skin.

Or a Toyota that stole the motor from Subaru. I mean, it DOES have Yamaha heads, and WE all know that heads make the motor more than just slugs in the bottom end of aluminum.
