Duh, that's the Subaru way. But we can trace any ecu mapping so I voids warranty. None the less the option is on the table. And a drop would be pointless, Subaru techs have put more time into suspension tuning than any other area. Have you seen the gt300 Sti racing version!?

Don't "DUH" me. I mentioned it in A NISSAN forum where this is NOT common knowledge. And by WE... you mean THEY as you no longer work for Subaru.

With the plastic sound window, it is this simple.

Does it add complexity/weight, sacrifice chassis rigidity? If so, how much?

Does it add to the driving involvement and enjoyment? If so, is it worth the penalty to weight, simplicity and handling?

A plastic window sounds WAY simpler than the piped diaphragms used by Ford and the rest. It sounds like there's likely no loss in rigidity. Taking a section of firewall that would otherwise be metal covered in heavy sound deadening and replacing it with a plastic diaphragm sounds like a weight saving measure if I've ever seen one. Yes, no doubt it adds to the cost of things, but so does aluminum over steel, etc. Driver's cars aren't cheap to build.

I'm not defending Porsche. Maybe the car would be better for driver enjoyment without the plastic diaphragm. If so, it doesn't qualify either.

You forgot one thing. NO true "manual" gearbox. DCT by definition isn't a true manual gearbox. As you said earlier with your automatic comment, its not a driver's car.

I think you ask a lot of the consumer. No new production car under $30k? This is just too elitist for me. You sound like the dickwads at the trendy mirco-brewery down in N. Portland.

Seriously why so down on things? I think there are a lot of good offerings on the market. I'm sorry if you don't love the suspension on the Mustang and that point is valid.... but the Mustang is better than its been.... ever.

You know what a driver's car is we all understand that but your posts in the last 24 hours seem a bit over reactive. Sorry i said you sound like a dickwad.

I'm undecided now. I'm in the market for a new car because I just want a "set it and forget it" warranty and I only was interested in 2 cars. The Abarth 500 or a new Honda CR-Z trim. Honda announced that the beefed up CR-Z will only be available overseas. >___<

So now it's down to the Abarth 500 or FR-S with the TRD S/C. I hope that all the details on the TRD S/C come out soon. If they use the same style S/C that they use on the Scion TC TRD then I will wait for this.

Also, ROFL @ *cries* "It has an automatic available".
I guess a "driver's car" should have an engine harness made out of speaker wire to be considered a "driver's car".

you want piped noise in the cabin. gut the hell out of it, remove the sound deadning, run some big ass exhaust tubing and make sure the fire wall is thin ass possible.

done deal.

im not sure ive been in any cars with motor sounds being piped into the car. the thought just seems odd...

stratton.

There is a 911 GT3 RS with a dual clutch transmission? I was not aware. Link?

So as to not seem lopsided, let me mention things I really like about the car.

I like the general shape of the body. The Subaru version has this ugly bumper showing up front, but other than that they both look great, especially in silhouette and from any of the rear angles. I like the dimensions, I like the short overhangs, I like the proper 4-2-1 exhaust manifold. I like the appropriate, symmetric exit, dual exhaust. I like the weight targets.

I love the RWD. I love that it has a LSD standard paired with either transmission. I love that it is produced by two companies who can produce a reliable product. I like what I hear about not locking down the ECU. I love the low center of gravity.

It takes much more than that to get me excited about a car these days is all. :o
