I am actually really excited that subaru/toyota decided to go through with this and build a car that should be great in spite of its perceived performance shortcomings. This will in fact prove to be a true driving enthusiast's car (a la Miata/MR-S/etc) instead of the boy racer, saturday night drag special.

You can have the WRX with 60 more hp and awd for roughly the same price but the toyobaru is hundreds of pounds lighter, should understeer much less and be a more rewarding drive unless you launch from every stop sign or red light you encounter.

That said I consider the WRX a benchmark compromise car and it ruins a lot of new cars for me... Quick, awd, and fairly spacious for under 30k makes it hard to look at anything else if you can only have one car (especially in the snow belt). The Subyota looks to be a car made to have fun with in the hills, not drag you to the store in the snow.

I work at a Toyota dealership. I can not wait to see these things on the showroom. I will be putting my name for the second year model. Hopefully they will have some type of GT or TRD version for it.

I'll also be hunting for TRD parts/accessories as well. Looks like bye bye Tundra.

The size of it makes it HOT. I'm thinking Z4 coupe sized.

Hopefully with a delightfully sophomoric Subie burble.

No more awd. Well rwd is still cool. I'm warming up to the car. Still hate those tail lights though. If I was to buy this I would go with the version that is lighter. On styling I'd probably go with the subaru as the tail lights look better.

I'm going to wait on the responses to this car from the other Japanese brands. I think some other winners are yet to come. Props to Toyota/Subaru for getting a head start on this though.

With this car in the lineup, the TC becomes pointless.

Seems like we'll be waiting for awhile for Nissan to wake up. Nissan has nothing that interests me or my budget at the moment.

[SUBARU] SUBARU BRZ Movie - YouTube!

The Toyota version, will be the Scion FR-S and will be unveiled later tonight at the Tokyo Car Show. It may be lighter and have less luxuries and be more kid-looking I bet. FR-S apparently means "Front engine, Rear drive, Sport"
