Price and weight put the 370z out of range to compete with this car. But if nissan threw together a 250z with the new vq25hr (232hp), dropped weight and price a little bit then I'd consider it.

say 2900 lbs(still porky but trying to be realistic), starting price $26k with that engine I'd have to go take a look at it.

Yeah I'm dreaming again. Even though I'm not the biggest fan of this new toyoburu vehicle I'm glad it's at least coming to market.

The Z is significantly more but you can find an 09 w low miles right? So its competition imo but the Gen coupe is a direct substitute.

I also read the BRZ may have a price point a few thousand higher and that could be due to the 250hp engine which is still a persistent rumor. So 250hp $28k??? dunno.

They've released official(?) weights for the BRZ. 2689lb curb weight.

This of course with the CF roof, and other lightened parts and pieces. I'd imagine the Toyo would weigh in the neighborhood of 2800~2900lbs

Invoice on a brand new Z base is $29,500. And apparently the oil cooler is only available on the 2012 Z's, the 2010-11 370z's did not have one from the factory.

Did anyone mention that the transmission is that of the IS300?

Save yourself some serious money and get the whole IS300 [wagon] instead?

Is the vq25hr in the G25 sedan? I would prefer an inline 4 if it's going to be a 2.5L though.

Agreed on the bold part, I may not care for a toyoburu either, but if it gains traction then other manufacturers will keep up!

And get poor power and gas mileage? . I love the IS300 body, but engine/trans is a no no for me.

I loved the IS300 and I still look at them but I've read horrible gas mileage reports many times. No thanks I can drive the XT if I want 22mpg.

Honestly though I think they are just looking to move numbers the first year or two. Once they start seeing the payback on the investment and getting the pulse of the enthusiast community (assuming it sells) we will probably see a lot of exciting trim levels and probably some boost Sti/TRD etc...

Personally I am still holding my breath for a 4-door variant.... ducks.
