The Beetle gets a "tune up".

Fuel filter.

Cabin air filter.

Spark plugs.

Spark plug wires.

Old plug. I think these have 45k miles on them.

New plug.

Comparing depth of new plug to old plug.

Wires.

Old wires out.

The new wires are going in. They are quite a bitch to get in. Not easy work with the intake manifold on.

Fuel filter installed.

Cabin air filter situation.

Torx lol.

After vacuuming and removing old filter.

Done.

The Beetle was past due for a front brake job. The rotors had ceased being true years ago, and the pictures will speak to the front pad life.

Right now I've been getting the parts for the Beetle at www.germanautoparts.com and I like them a lot.

Who has two thumbs and gets their money's worth out of a set of pads?

Damn... A "caliper sized" hex bolt. 7mm. No normal kits have these, and I never have owned one. Time to head to the parts store...

The only pad with the life sensor on it had a good bit of life left. The light in the cabin had not come on yet. O_o

More pics of that one pad with around 1mm of material left.

Used pad with sensor is on the right.

New pads.

Gave the slider bolts a bit of that Mobile 1 synthetic axle grease which seems to come in handy all the time. There is probably a better lubricant to use. =/

It was a little trying to get anti-seize on all the right stuff but I managed.

ABS yo.

Driver's side done.

Time for the passenger side.

Passenger side is done.

The break-in went well.

If anyone cares, the pads are a bit more grabby than the factory Beetle pads at very low speeds and make a little bit of noise immediately before you reach a full stop which is not squeaky nor intrusive. They may calm down as they age. I would recommend them for sure as OEM replacements.

Dan's S2000 gets some bigger wheels and tires.

He's also married and moved to Arkansas, so we'll be seeing much less of him these days.

A client of mine has the first supercharged 2nd gen MR2 in the country. Don't ask...
