Remember how bad Dan's garage used to be?

Well, I cleaned it up while Dan sipped some lemonade.

That's not the first, nor the last time.

My humble garage that was intended only for storing a car. No machining, no changing tyres but most bolt ons can be done. Now I'm looking for a backup DD to take this one further. I'm still looking for a VE swap but first I need to find an ''engine-crane'' I also can store in my 20ft x 10ft garage. (Roof will support it though).

Probably I'll need to add a fridge for some beers too. (To get some help ) f.y.i I live in a place thats duller then Kentucky.

But I'm very happy when I am there working on my car.

The BMW gets a little test drive after the downpipe completion.

The turbo oil feed line has a little leak (hence the smoke). Also Dan later decides to re-do the wastegate recirculation to add in a flex pipe and slip fit.

Quick question. WHere the eff did Dan learn to weld like that? I'd love to be that nice one of these days

Dan is self taught and hasn't been welding that long. In my opinion it doesn't take long to learn to do decent welds. Obviously you get better with practice but within your first hour or so you learn a whole lot about what works and what doesn't.

Ok where did he buy his welders and approximately how much do they run? Also is this on household current or did he have an electrcian come in.

It takes a long time to get consistent, but you are absolutely right. Its a very quick process to learn where you blow through and punch a hole in the metal or not.

He shopped around and found the best deals on eBay direct from Miller I believe.

In post #18 he says which MIG and TIG he bought. You can look up prices with that info.

It's typical household 220V which we had to add ourselves from the breaker box to the garage. (Prudent home owners should then get an electrician to sign off on your work depending on local laws.)
