How To: Install B14 200SX Folding Rear Seats in a B13
I've always hated how the B13 SE-R's seat doesn't fold down, so I swapped in a folding rear seat from a B14 200SX SE. B13 folding rear seats (found in some four-door B13s) might work perfectly, but I couldn't find them in a junkyard. Also, B14 Sentra seats may work as well, but I don't know if they're the same as the B14 200SX. On with the how-to!
Tools Required:
Ratchet with 10mm, 12mm, and 14mm sockets.
Tin snips (or something to cut metal and plastic)
Drill with bit
Pliers (optional, but makes removing factory spot welded brackets easy)
Instructions:
First, gather your parts from a 200SX. It's all very simple to pull. Here's what I got from the junkyard for $26.50:
Second, remove your factory B13 backseat. The bottom part is held in by two clips underneath the front side of the bottom of the seat - one on each side. Pull the plastic loop out, and the seat just comes right up on each side. Then it can be removed. For the seat back, remove the now-exposed M6 (10mm head) screws, and then the seat will push up and out.
Then I went to work on removing the stock brackets that the factory seat back slides down into and bolts into. To remove these, you can drill out the spot welds, grind them off, or do what I did and simply grab some pliers and bend them back and forth until the metal fatigues and then they just fall off. There are five brackets total, four of which you can see the location of below.
Next, we need to cut the big metal piece so that it fits in the B13. I recommend an angle grinder or sawzall or something with power, but I cut mine using tin snips. I then bolted in the middle seat bracket from the 200SX into the holes using M8 (12mm head) bolts and nuts. When bolting the bracket into place, there's some slop, and you'll want it to be slid as far towards the back of the car as possible, so it looks like so:
Then I drilled a hole in the metal piece where there's a factory bolt in the chassis, and bolted it into the car. I still have to drill another hole and fasten it in another piece to provide more strength. But with one hole drilled and it bolted in, it looks like this:
Now take the U-shaped brackets that hold the upper part of the back seats in place when they're up, and bolt them in using M8 (12mm head) bolts.
Now that these are in, they're a good guide for cutting the plastic panels so that the panels will fit. I had to trim the bottom, top, and outsides of each panel so they'd fit. I didn't do that great of a job, but they came out looking like this after you bolt the seat bottom hinges in using the 200SX M10 (14mm head) bolts:
We're getting close! Now it's time to bolt in the seat backs. These slide onto the middle bracket and then bolt to the hinges on the outside edges using two M6 (10mm head) bolts per side. Once you're done, your car should look like this:
Next, we have to fit the bottom of the 200SX seat in. The B13 seat bottom can still be used if you desire, but it is colored differently and looks a bit funny. First, remove the white plastic things that slide onto the metal loops that go into the car. They look like this:
And they need to look like this:
Now everything is basically done! You can pop the small middle plastic piece from the 200SX in at this point after shaving some plastic off of the top.

Let me know if you have any questions.
