Wet trunk? How to repair your leaking brake light...
This happens to be in my '91 240sx but this procedure is the same for most Nissans.

After you remove some trunk plastics there are 6 screws to take out the tail lights (only one of mine leaks so that's all I'm doing).

Here's where the water was leaking in...

Scrape all the nasty black goo off with a flat head or plastic scraper. Then, clean with acetone...remember to have ventilation or ...Crazy eyes

Here's what you can use to replace the black goo...3M Strip Calk. I couldn't find the thicker roll I remember using when I worked at Nissan many moons ago so this would have to do. I used 3 together and rolled them up (more like squished them together). Works fine...

Complete...notice the nice 'squeeze out' bead showing from the inside...

Now go repair your leaking brake lights!

I used rtv sealant. Not as clean job as yours, but it did the job. Only my passenger taillight was leaking, so if the driver's side goes, I will be doing it this way. Thanks for the tip!
